LIVEHOUSE Dundee is set to gain a HUGE £15 MILLION funding boost to increase its capacity

Dundee’s LIVEHOUSE venue could be transformed into one of Scotland’s leading mid-sized entertainment and conference destinations after a proposed £15 million investment was recommended through the Tay Cities Region Deal.

The funding forms part of a wider reshaping of Tay Cities Region Deal investments and would support essential enabling works at the venue, helping to increase its capacity to 3,500 people and significantly expand the number of events it can host throughout the year.

If approved by both the Scottish and UK Governments, the investment is expected to leverage a further £6.5 million in funding, create around 150 jobs and benefit approximately 600 small and medium-sized businesses across the region.

The expansion would allow LIVEHOUSE to attract larger touring productions, concerts and international conferences that are currently unable to come to Dundee due to venue limitations.

It would also strengthen the city’s position as a destination for major events, helping to draw more visitors into the city centre.

Forecasts suggest the completed venue could welcome up to 85,000 attendees annually, providing a significant boost to Dundee’s hospitality sector, including hotels, restaurants, cafés and bars.

For Dundee, the investment would mark another major milestone in the city’s cultural transformation, building on recent developments along the waterfront and reinforcing the city’s growing reputation as a destination for live entertainment, conferences and events.

The proposal remains subject to Government approval but represents one of the largest cultural infrastructure investments currently being considered within the Tay Cities Region Deal.
