IKEA are opening their new Dundee store on March 19

Global home-furnishing giant IKEA has confirmed it will open its first ever Dundee location on 19 March, bringing its Plan and Order Point concept to Kingsway West Retail Park.

The move marks the brand’s debut in the city and aims to bring its services closer to where people live, work and shop.

The Dundee site will operate as a Plan and Order Point, a smaller format store focused on personalised planning services rather than a traditional large warehouse layout.

Customers will be able to drop in or book appointments with specialist designers to plan kitchens, bedroom storage and living room solutions. An eight-strong local team will support customers through the process, from design to purchase and installation.

Although the store will not carry the full showroom range seen in larger branches, shoppers will still have access to IKEA’s complete catalogue for home delivery or collection from the Dundee location.

Around 250 home furnishing accessories, including décor items, kitchen essentials and storage products, will also be available to buy and take away on the day. The store will additionally act as a collection and returns point for online orders.

Kevin Coventry, marketing manager at IKEA, said the company was proud to bring its first Dundee presence to the city. He explained that the Kingsway West Retail Park site was chosen to make it easy for customers to access home planning advice while out and about.

He added that the team is looking forward to helping the Dundee community create better spaces at home.

The Dundee opening strengthens IKEA’s footprint in Scotland, adding to its established stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as a new Plan and Order Point format set to open in Aberdeen. For Dundonians who have long travelled to other cities for IKEA visits, the Swedish retailer will soon be much closer to home.
