Details of this year’s Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day commemorations in Dundee have been announced, with a series of parades and services taking place across the city to remember those who lost their lives in wars and conflicts.

Residents, veterans, serving military personnel and community representatives will come together to pay their respects, with events taking place at several of Dundee’s most significant memorial sites.

The commemorations will include a parade through the city centre, wreath-laying ceremonies, church services and the traditional two-minute silence.

Remembrance Sunday parade through Dundee

On Sunday 8 November 2026, a Remembrance Sunday parade will begin at 10.30am, departing from the High School of Dundee.

Led by Dundee City Pipe Band, the procession will travel along Reform Street, High Street and Nethergate.

Participants will include serving military personnel, combined ex-services associations, veterans and members of the Cadet Forces.

Dundee’s Lord Provost, Bill Campbell, will take the salute in Reform Street alongside military representatives.

Following the parade, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Garden of Remembrance at St Mary’s Church.

Floral tributes will be laid by the Lord Provost, ex-services associations, MPs and MSPs, council representatives, Dundee secondary schools and other invited guests.

A further remembrance service will take place inside St Mary’s Church at 11.30am.

Commemorations across Dundee

Additional ceremonies will be held throughout Remembrance Sunday at several locations across the city.

The full programme includes:

  • 10.30am: Remembrance Sunday parade from the High School of Dundee, through the city centre

  • Following the parade: Wreath-laying ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance, St Mary’s Church

  • 11.30am: Remembrance service at St Mary’s Church

  • 12.15pm: Commemoration service at the Dundee Law War Memorial

  • 2.30pm: Commemoration service at the Submariners’ Memorial

  • 3pm: Commemoration service at HMS Unicorn.

The Lord Provost will lay a wreath at the City Cenotaph, Submariners’ Memorial and Frigate Unicorn on behalf of the citizens of Dundee.

These ceremonies will provide opportunities for people across the city to remember those who served and sacrificed their lives in conflicts throughout history.

Armistice Day service in City Square

Dundee will also mark Armistice Day on Wednesday 11 November 2026, with a short public service in City Square.

Beginning at 11am, the gathering will include the traditional two-minute silence, allowing those attending to reflect on the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces.

The service is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Armistice Day marks the anniversary of the end of fighting in the First World War on 11 November 1918 and continues to provide an important moment of remembrance for those affected by war.

Dundee remembers

The annual commemorations bring together people of different generations and backgrounds, united in remembering those who served in the armed forces and those whose lives were lost or changed by conflict.

Residents wishing to pay their respects are encouraged to attend the public commemorations taking place across Dundee.
