A memorial football match celebrating the life of much-loved Dundee footballer Ellie Scanlan will take place next month, bringing together family, friends and the wider community while raising money for a charity close to her heart.
The event, which has been organised by Ellie's family and supporters, will be held at Thomson Park, Dundee, on 18 July from 1pm until 5pm.
Ellie sadly passed away last year and was well known throughout the local football community. During her football career, she represented clubs including Tayside Ladies and Glenrothes Strollers and was also a proud ambassador for the Dundee-based charity Help For Kids.
The memorial match will see Ellie Scanlan FC take on Tayside Ladies & Glenrothes Strollers in what promises to be a special afternoon celebrating Ellie's life and legacy.
Alongside the football, there will be DJs, food and drink, raffles, prizes and face painting, creating a family-friendly event for all ages. Admission is £5 on the door, with every penny raised going to Help For Kids in Ellie's memory.
As preparations continue, organisers are appealing for additional raffle and auction prizes to help maximise the fundraising total. Businesses and members of the public are being encouraged to donate vouchers, experiences, gifts or services, with every contribution, big or small, making a difference.
Organisers have already thanked everyone who has donated prizes so far, saying the generosity shown by the local community has been overwhelming. They hope even more people will come forward to support the event and help raise as much money as possible for Help For Kids.
Anyone wishing to donate a raffle or auction prize is encouraged to get in touch with the organisers directly.
