Dundee is just one week away from its first 6pm sunset of the year, marking a clear sign that spring is on the way.
According to Time and Date figures, the sun will set at 6pm in the city within the next seven days, bringing longer evenings and brighter conditions after months of dark winter nights. Daylight hours have been steadily increasing throughout March, with the gap between sunrise and sunset growing by several minutes each day.
The change will become even more noticeable at the end of the month when the clocks go forward by one hour. When British Summer Time begins, sunset times in Dundee will jump forward to nearly 8pm overnight, instantly extending the feeling of lighter evenings.
By the final days of March, the sun will not set until close to 8pm, giving people more time to enjoy walks along the Waterfront, evenings in Broughty Ferry or simply brighter commutes home from work. The longer days are expected to continue building into April, May and beyond.
The steady increase in daylight is one of the most visible seasonal changes in Scotland, and for many it signals the start of outdoor plans, after-work activities and a shift in mood as winter fades.
