The Dundee Museum of Transport has confirmed it will reopen to the public on 1 February, marking the start of what is expected to be a packed year for the popular visitor attraction.
The museum, which celebrates Dundee’s rich transport heritage, is preparing to welcome visitors back with plans already in place for a full programme of events across 2026.
Major fixtures including Drive it Day, Kit Car Fest and the Motorcycle, Scooter & Trike Fest are all anticipated to return, continuing a calendar that draws enthusiasts and families from across the region.
Alongside the reopening news, the museum has sparked fresh curiosity online by hinting at a new exhibition.
A recent announcement ended with the word “Prossimamente”, Italian for “coming soon”, suggesting an Italian-themed transport exhibition could be on the way very soon.
While details remain under wraps, the teaser has already generated excitement among supporters, with many eager to see what vehicles or stories could feature in a future Italian showcase.
The reopening also comes as anticipation continues to build around the museum’s long-term plans to relocate to Maryfield Tram Depot.
The move is aimed for a 2027 opening and is expected to significantly expand the museum’s space and visitor experience.
For now, the focus is firmly on reopening day, as the Dundee Museum of Transport prepares to welcome people back through its doors and kick off another year celebrating the vehicles and journeys that helped shape the city.
