A new bakery is set to join Dundee’s city centre after Cake Box's plans for a new store on Reform Street were approved.
The decision clears the way for the national brand to move into a long-vacant retail unit, adding another food business to one of the city’s busiest streets.
The proposed shop will be fitted out with a main serving counter, customer seating and dedicated areas for preparing and storing cakes. Design plans show a full internal refurbishment to transform the empty space into a modern bakery environment aimed at both walk-in customers and those collecting pre-ordered celebration cakes.
Cake Box has built its reputation on offering cakes made without eggs, which has helped it stand out in a competitive market. Its menu typically includes celebration cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes and a range of sweet treats tailored for birthdays, weddings and other occasions. The Dundee store will operate as a franchise, following the company’s continued growth across Scotland.
As part of the opening, local recruitment is expected to take place to staff the new outlet. The move is also seen as a positive step for Reform Street, where efforts have been ongoing to attract new businesses and increase footfall in the city centre.
