Abertay University has been named the best modern university in Scotland for student experience, according to the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026.
The accolade highlights Abertay’s welcoming community, innovative approach to teaching, and its commitment to supporting students both academically and personally.
The university, which has a strong reputation for pioneering courses in areas such as computer games, cybersecurity and environmental science, has built a strong track record in helping students succeed during their studies and beyond.
The news comes as the University of Dundee also recorded impressive results in the same guide, ranked 23rd in the UK and securing top 10 places in 10 subjects.
Dundee achieved first place nationally for Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering, as well as second for both Medicine and Dentistry. Other high-performing areas included Creative Writing, Social Work, Art & Design, and Physics & Astronomy.
The strong showing from both of the city’s universities underlines Dundee’s reputation as a centre of academic excellence and innovation.
Together, Abertay and Dundee attract students from across the UK and around the world, making higher education a key part of the city’s identity.
The Good University Guide is one of the UK’s most influential league tables, assessing institutions on teaching quality, research, graduate prospects, and student satisfaction. The latest results will further boost Dundee’s growing reputation as one of the UK’s leading student cities.
