A brand new community-driven Christmas Village could bring festive cheer to Dundee’s City Square later this year.
ACE Community Events, a local group focused on inclusive celebrations, have revealed an exciting proposal to host a magical winter experience in the heart of the city.
If approved, the event will feature free rides, a Santa’s Grotto, and even a glittering ice rink - all aimed at spreading joy without placing pressure on household budgets.
The vision behind the village is to create an affordable, welcoming space where families can enjoy the spirit of Christmas together.
Organisers hope the community-led nature of the event will reflect the city’s values and bring people together across generations.

The proposal comes after previous city centre festive events received mixed feedback, particularly around affordability and accessibility.
In contrast, this new approach promises a more inclusive alternative, offering free or low-cost activities designed with local families in mind.
If given the green light, the Christmas Village will transform the City Square into a wintry wonderland complete with music, food, and community-led entertainment.
Further details, including partnerships, funding sources, and final approval from Dundee City Council, are expected in the coming months. However, early signs suggest there is growing support for the idea.
