A mural dedicated to Dundee Culture has just been revealed in Dundee’s West End.
The artwork from SYKE, real name Symon Mathieson, was revealed on Instagram this morning and the reaction on social media was wholesome.
I visited the mural shortly after it was revealed, and it was so humbling to have a piece of artwork dedicated to Dundee Culture.
On his Instagram page, SYKE wrote:
“Thought I would add a second word to my Dundee piece this morning, I chose culture as in Dundee Culture, Andrew who runs the page is always talking the city up even when others are slagging it off.”
Taking to Dundee Culture’s socials, I said:
“Absolutely over the moon to have a mural dedicated my work with Dundee Culture thanks to the ever so talented SYKE who recently modified his newest work of art in the West End where I used to roam around when I was a student at Harris!
Thank you so so much SYKE, it has made my day and has capped off what has been an incredible year for Dundee Culture!”
The piece of artwork was remodelled from a recent artwork SYKE made at the Seabraes Graffiti Wall which received praise on social media.
It comes as Dundee Culture caps off its best year ever, following over 40 million visits and a record breaking number of new followers within the space of a year.
