A Dundee woman is completing an extraordinary year-long challenge by running a 52km ultramarathon across Angus and Dundee today, marking the final week of a project that saw her try a different sport every single week of 2025.
Lorna, 26, originally set herself the goal of completing 52 sports in 52 weeks as part of her Masters in Sports Journalism.
What began as an academic project quickly became a remarkable personal achievement, pushing her to test new disciplines week after week throughout the year.
To mark the end of the challenge, Lorna chose her toughest test yet - a 52km ultramarathon, symbolising the 52 weeks of sport she has completed.
The run is being undertaken in memory of her cousin, Nicky Stewart from Monifieth, who lived with Crohn’s Disease from the age of 10 and passed away earlier this year, aged 57, following a battle with cancer.
Lorna’s fundraiser which aims to raise money for Crohn’s Colitis UK, has already raised £1,740, 347% above the original target of £500.
Lorna began the run at 7.30am at Strathmore Golf Club, before heading along Riverside Drive towards Broughty Ferry. She is expected to turn back towards the city and finish later today at Broughty Castle.
The challenge is also raising awareness of Crohn’s Disease, a lifelong condition affecting an estimated 500,000 people across the UK, with the real number believed to be significantly higher due to underdiagnosis.
Speaking through her family, Lorna’s run has been described as both an incredible achievement and a deeply personal tribute, turning a year of hard work into something meaningful that extends far beyond sport.
Donations made in support of the challenge will go towards helping raise awareness and supporting those living with Crohn’s Disease, with every contribution making a difference.
