A brand new concert inspired by Dundee’s streets and landmarks will take place next month, bringing together local talent in a celebration of the city’s character and creativity.
The Dundee Community Youth Orchestra will perform Streets of Dundee live at McManus Galleries on Saturday 8 November at 11am.
The concert will feature original compositions by local musician and songwriter Ed Muirhead, performed for the first time in front of an audience.
The music, created in January 2024 as part of Fun A Day Dundee, was written one piece at a time — one for each day of the month — capturing the atmosphere and rhythm of different parts of the city, including Strawberry Bank. Released in May 2024, the collection has since been streamed over 40,000 times.
This special event marks the live debut of Streets of Dundee in one of the city’s most iconic venues. McManus Galleries, known for its striking architecture and cultural significance, will provide the perfect backdrop for a concert that celebrates Dundee through sound.
Ed Muirhead said he is “thrilled” to see the music brought to life by young local musicians, adding that the performance will give audiences a new way to connect with Dundee’s identity.
The concert is free to attend, offering Dundonians and visitors alike a chance to enjoy a heartfelt musical journey through the city’s streets, stories, and spirit.
