Bus operator Xplore Dundee has confirmed a series of fare increases across its network, taking affect from 11 May, affecting adult, student and child tickets.
The changes come as the company says it continues to face significant financial pressures, including rising fuel prices, higher energy costs and increased expenses across its supply chain. According to the operator, overall costs remain more than 45% higher than they were before the global energy crisis.
Xplore Dundee highlighted its investment in a growing electric bus fleet, aimed at reducing emissions and reliance on traditional fuels. However, it says this has not shielded the business from rising costs in other areas such as infrastructure and day-to-day operations.
The company says it has worked to keep increases as low as possible while continuing to offer value for money. It has thanked passengers for their understanding as the new fares come into effect.
The updated prices show modest increases across most ticket types, typically ranging from 5p to £1.85 depending on the ticket. Below is a breakdown of the changes.
Adult fares have seen increases across singles, bundles and saver tickets, with the largest rise affecting longer-term passes such as the 4-Week Saver.
Student and child fares have also risen slightly, with smaller increases applied to single trips and day tickets, while weekly and monthly options have seen more noticeable changes.
