The V&A Dundee have opened up a new exhibition, A Fragile Correspondence, which opened today in its "first UK showcase".

The exhibition, which was commissioned by the Scotland + Venice partnership and curated by a creative team consisting of the Architecture Fringe, -ism magazine, and /other, is the first time it is on display in the UK.

What is the exhibition about?

A Fragile Correspondence has been described as a "journey through three Scottish landscapes across the Highlands, Islands and Lowlands" and features the forests around Loch Ness, the seashore of the Orkney archipelago and the industrialised remnants of the Ravenscraig steelworks, it maps a collection of creative responses by architects, artists and writers.

A Fragile Correspondence looks into the connection between land, architecture, and language, aiming to find new methods of collaborating with the land instead of merely building on it.

It examines whether building a deeper relationship between land and languages can enable architecture to be more in harmony with its surroundings.

In response to the theme "Laboratory of the Future," this project was chosen to represent Scotland at the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2023, an international exhibition that encourages participants to explore ideas about our living environments.
