A new Scotland World Cup football scarf designed in Dundee has officially launched, giving fans a fresh way to show their support ahead of the 2026 tournament.
The scarf, released by V&A Dundee, has been created in collaboration with young creatives from the city alongside artist Aoife Cawley.
It blends traditional Scottish identity with a modern twist, featuring bold pops of pink and yellow, a unicorn motif and references to Flower of Scotland.
The project places Dundee at the heart of Scotland’s World Cup build-up, with four pupils from Rockwell Learning Centre playing a key role in shaping the final design.
Over eight weeks, the group worked closely with Aoife Cawley and creative professionals to develop ideas, experiment with patterns and bring their concepts to life.
Their journey began with a visit to Hampden Park and the Scottish Football Museum, where they explored the history and culture of Scotland’s national team.
Inspired by classic kits and fan traditions, the group chose to highlight less common colours like pink and yellow, alongside a lion rampant motif that nods to Scotland’s earliest international strip from 1872.
Back in Dundee, workshops at the museum allowed the pupils to refine their ideas through sketching, printing and design development.
They also created a unique tartan pattern using Riso printing techniques, while learning how design connects with storytelling, emotion and marketing.
Those involved say the project goes beyond a simple piece of merchandise. Gary Jamieson from V&A Dundee described the scarf as a symbol of teamwork and creativity, reflecting how young people can contribute to Scotland’s national story.
Aoife Cawley added that the experience offered a valuable insight into the design industry, while also helping the group explore their own identity and confidence.
The limited-edition scarf is expected to prove popular as anticipation grows for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
It is available now both online and in-store at V&A Dundee, priced at £30, offering supporters a uniquely Dundee-made way to get behind Scotland on the global stage.
