Today is Dundee’s hottest day of 2026 so far as temperatures soar to 27C

Dundee has experienced its hottest day of the year after temperatures climbed to a scorching 27C on Wednesday (8 July), exceeding earlier forecasts.

Initial predictions had suggested highs of around 25C, but the mercury continued to rise throughout the day, making it the warmest day the city has seen so far this year.

It comes as the UK begins to experience its third heatwave in the space of three months with some forecasters speculating that the overall heatwave in the UK could be the longest since 1976.

Although temperatures are expected to ease slightly on Thursday, the Met Office is still forecasting another very warm day with highs of around 25C.

With the warm conditions continuing, people are being reminded to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and take care during the hottest part of the day.
