The DCA are offering cinema tickets for £4 this weekend

Dundee Contemporary Arts is offering cinema tickets for just £4 this weekend as part of National Cinema Weekend 2026.

The event takes place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, with DCA joining more than 500 cinemas across the UK in offering reduced-price screenings designed to make the big-screen experience more accessible.

Originally launched as National Cinema Day in 2022, the initiative has now expanded across an entire weekend, giving regular cinemagoers, occasional visitors and people who may not normally head to the cinema the chance to see films at a lower price.

DCA is marking the weekend with a mix of brand-new releases, contemporary classics, cult cinema and family films.

Among the highlights is Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, giving audiences another chance to see the blockbuster on the big screen, alongside a tenth anniversary screening of Damien Chazelle’s musical La La Land, starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

DCA’s horror and cult film strand Dundead will also take part with a screening of the recently restored vampire film Nadja, which was produced and funded by David Lynch.

There is also a Dundee collaboration as DCA teams up with V&A Dundee for a screening of the acclaimed 2018 documentary McQueen.

The film explores the life and career of fashion designer Alexander McQueen and is being shown to coincide with V&A Dundee’s Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show exhibition and its inaugural Scotland Fashion Now 2026 programme.

The £4 National Cinema Weekend price will also apply to a number of new releases currently showing at DCA.

These include Scottish comedy The Incomer, directed by Louis Paxton, Pedro Almodóvar’s new drama Bitter Christmas, wildlife documentary Super Nature and Ridley Scott’s new science-fiction film The Dog Stars.

Younger cinema fans are also being catered for through DCA’s year-round Discovery Family Film Club.

The family strand will screen Belle and Sebastian at 11am on Saturday as a Donate What You Can screening, offering another affordable option for families during the weekend.

National Cinema Weekend is designed to encourage people to experience films together on the big screen while reducing the cost barrier that can sometimes come with a trip to the cinema.

With everything from dinosaurs and musicals to Scottish comedy, fashion documentaries and cult horror on the programme, DCA is offering one of its most varied cinema weekends of the year.
