Some of Still Game’s most recognisable faces are heading to Dundee for a special reunion event, combining comedy with a serious mission to support the future of youth football in Scotland.

The Big Accumulator: Our Ultimate Still Game Wager will take place at the Whitehall Theatre on Friday March 27, bringing together fan favourites for a night inspired by classic episodes Cairds and Balls Up. The event promises a mix of storytelling, audience interaction and on-stage challenges, with plenty of laughs along the way.

Mark Cox, Jane McCarry, Gavin Mitchell, Sanjeev Kohli and Matt Costello will all appear, joined by Arbroath actor John Buick, known to many as Old Joe. Buick’s involvement adds a strong local connection to the event, with the actor said to be passionate about supporting opportunities for young players across the region.

While the night will celebrate one of Scotland’s most loved sitcoms, it comes at a critical time for Montrose FC. The club is facing the loss of a £12,000 annual funding stream following the Scottish FA’s decision to end direct grant support for academies. That change means the club must now find around £50,000 each year to continue running its youth setup.

Montrose currently operates at advanced youth level, supporting players at under-17 and under-19 level and providing a pathway into the professional game. Without securing new funding, there are growing concerns over the long-term future of the academy and the opportunities it provides for young people.

Organisers say the academy is about more than just football. It offers a structured and professional environment where young players can develop both on and off the pitch, helping them grow in confidence, discipline and teamwork. The upcoming Dundee event is seen as a key step in securing that future.

On the night itself, fans can expect stories from the cast’s time on Still Game, discussion around Scotland’s football prospects this summer, and interactive challenges giving audience members the chance to win prizes. Every penny raised will go directly towards supporting the academy.

The event also highlights Dundee’s role as a host city for major cultural and community events, bringing together entertainment and fundraising in a way that resonates with local audiences. With strong interest expected, it is shaping up to be both a nostalgic and meaningful evening.

Dundee Culture recently sat down with Sanjeev Kohli, Jane McCarry and Mark Cox for an interview ahead of the show, with more from the cast set to be shared in the coming days.
