It was another memorable day for Team Tayside at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with one athlete narrowly missing out on a historic medal.

Shayne Humphries and the Scotland men's 3x3 wheelchair basketball team concluded a remarkable tournament with a fourth-place finish, marking the nation's best-ever performance in the event.

Dundee's Shayne Humphries helped Scotland achieve their highest-ever finish in the men's 3x3 wheelchair basketball competition after an outstanding week at the SEC Centre.

After storming through the group stage unbeaten with victories over South Africa, Malaysia and Wales, Scotland progressed directly to the semi-finals, where they faced eventual champions Australia.

Despite a determined performance, the Scots were beaten 19-12 before going on to contest the bronze medal match against Canada.

Scotland were unable to recover from the disappointment of the semi-final and were defeated 19-9 by Canada, leaving them just outside the medals in fourth place.

Nevertheless, it was a landmark achievement, with the squad becoming the first Scottish men's wheelchair basketball team to qualify for and compete at a Commonwealth Games.
