Team Tayside at Glasgow 2026: Day 4

Another successful day for Team Tayside at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games saw local athletes continue to make their mark across wheelchair basketball, netball and 3x3 basketball.

Dundee’s Shayne Humphries helped Scotland secure a place in the men’s 3x3 wheelchair basketball semi-finals with a perfect group stage record, while Perth’s Cerys Cairns celebrated a second successive netball victory.

Dundee’s Hannah Robb and Perth’s Ella Doherty also finished their women’s 3x3 campaign with a win after a tough opening fixture of the day.

🏀 Shayne Humphries helps Scotland book semi-final place

Dundee’s Shayne Humphries continued his outstanding Commonwealth Games campaign as Scotland secured a third consecutive victory to finish top of the men’s 3x3 wheelchair basketball group.

Scotland produced a dominant display against Wales, shutting out their opponents to complete a perfect group stage and qualify directly for the semi-finals. After victories over South Africa and Malaysia, Humphries and his teammates now move within one win of a guaranteed medal.

🏐 Cerys Cairns helps Scotland make it back-to-back wins

Perth’s Cerys Cairns was part of the Scotland netball squad that continued its impressive recovery from an opening-day defeat with another convincing victory.

The Scottish Thistles comfortably defeated Trinidad and Tobago to make it two wins in a row, strengthening their hopes of progressing from Pool B ahead of their final group match against Jamaica.

🏀 Hannah Robb and Ella Doherty finish Games on a high

Dundee’s Hannah Robb and Ella Doherty experienced mixed fortunes as Scotland completed their women’s 3x3 basketball group campaign.

Scotland were first beaten 21-12 by an unbeaten New Zealand side before responding superbly with a dominant 21-5 victory over Papua New Guinea. Although the win wasn’t enough to secure a place in the knockout stages, the pair finished their Commonwealth Games campaign with an impressive performance and a victory to celebrate.

🏊 Jensen Norris narrowly misses 100m freestyle final

Perth’s Jensen Norris produced another strong swim in the men’s 100m freestyle semi-finals but narrowly missed out on a place in the final.

Competing against some of the Commonwealth’s fastest swimmers, Norris clocked 50.11 seconds to finish ninth in his semi-final, just one place outside the top eight required to progress. Reaching the semi-finals on his senior Commonwealth Games debut was nevertheless a significant achievement.
