Team Tayside at Glasgow 2026: Day 1

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games are underway, and the first Team Tayside athlete is in action on the opening day of competition.
Perth swimmer Jensen Norris begins his campaign with two individual events and could also feature as part of Scotland’s men’s 4x100m freestyle relay team as swimming gets underway at Tollcross International Swimming Centre.
Here’s everything to look out for on Day 1.
What to expect
🏊 One Team Tayside athlete in action – Jensen Norris becomes the first athlete from Tayside to compete at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
He’ll contest the heats of the men’s 100m freestyle before returning in the evening session should he qualify for the final. Norris could also feature in Scotland’s men’s 4x100m freestyle relay team during both the heats and final.

Jensen Norris will be aiming to progress from the morning heats into Friday evening’s final in one of swimming’s showcase sprint events.

If selected and Scotland progresses, Norris could return later in the day as part of the national relay team.
