Superdrug is planning to expand its presence in Dundee with a brand new store at Gallagher Retail Park.
The health and beauty chain has lodged a planning application with Dundee City Council for signage at the former Next unit, which has been empty since July when the fashion chain relocated to its new Stack Retail Park home in Lochee.
The application, received on 27 August, has now been formally acknowledged today by the council, meaning the proposals have passed their initial checks and will go through the full planning process.
Neighbours will be notified in due course, and the application will be available to view on the council’s planning website.
If approved, the move would mark Superdrug’s second big development in the city this year.
Work is also already underway at the Overgate Shopping Centre to extend its existing store into the former Clintons card shop, with completion expected later in the autumn.
Superdrug’s arrival would also strengthen Gallagher Retail Park’s retail line-up, where Mountain Warehouse has recently submitted plans for signage on the old M&S Foodhall site.
No opening date has been confirmed, but the addition would bring fresh retail choice to one of Dundee’s busiest shopping hubs.
