Storm Dave: Winds up to 50mph forecast for Dundee

Dundee is bracing for the impact of Storm Dave, with strong winds expected to sweep across the city and surrounding areas later today and into tomorrow morning.

Weather warnings covering much of Scotland have been issued, highlighting the risk of disruption as the storm moves across the UK.

An Amber warning for wind is in place across parts of the country, with gusts of up to 60–70 mph possible in exposed areas.

While Dundee may avoid the very worst conditions seen in more northern and coastal locations, the city is still expected to experience powerful winds capable of causing travel disruption and localised damage.

Residents are being warned to prepare for difficult conditions, particularly during the evening and overnight period when winds are expected to peak. There is also a risk of power cuts and delays to public transport, with drivers urged to take extra care on open roads and higher routes.

The storm is part of a wider system bringing wet and windy weather across northern parts of the UK. In more elevated areas of Scotland, snowfall is also expected, although Dundee itself is likely to see mainly rain alongside the strong winds.

Drivers across the region are being advised to exercise caution, especially when travelling on exposed roads or overtaking larger vehicles. The combination of gusty winds and wet conditions could make journeys more hazardous than usual.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve as the storm moves away into the North Sea. By Sunday, winds should begin to ease, although blustery showers may continue across eastern Scotland, including Dundee.

Looking ahead, Easter Monday is set to bring calmer and drier weather, with some sunny spells expected after a chilly start. A slightly warmer and more settled spell is then forecast into the middle of next week before more changeable conditions return.
