If you’re enjoying the Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show exhibition, there is good news, because V&A Dundee will be sticking with the fashion theme right into 2027.

The museum has officially announced that Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery will be its next major exhibition, with the showcase making its UK debut in Dundee when it opens on 26 March 2027.

The exhibition will explore the fascinating story of how jewellery became an integral part of the iconic Vivienne Westwood look, charting four decades of archive and runway pieces displayed together as a collection for the very first time.

Curated by the Vivienne Westwood team, the exhibition will offer visitors an immersive journey through the British design house’s history, showcasing jewellery alongside garments, imagery, video, sound installations and large-scale graphic displays.

The exhibition will also highlight the long-standing connection between Vivienne Westwood and Scotland, including the fashion house’s love of Scottish textiles, tartans and culture. A selection of archive looks connected to Scotland will also feature throughout the exhibition.

Visitors can expect a closer look at how jewellery was used not simply as an accessory, but as a powerful part of Vivienne Westwood’s wider design language and identity, helping shape the rebellious and subversive style the brand became globally recognised for.

Andreas Kronthaler, Creative Director at Vivienne Westwood, said Scotland had always been close to both his and Vivienne’s hearts.

He said: “Scotland has always been in mine and Vivienne’s hearts, and I really got to know it through Vivienne.

“I always go back to its traditions - I even have my own tartan the MacAndreas which is one of the first things I made when I came to London. So I am really happy to show the exhibition in Dundee - it’s a brilliant opportunity.”

Caroline Grewar, Programme Director at V&A Dundee, described the exhibition as a significant moment for the city and the museum.

She said: “We are delighted to announce Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery as our major exhibition for 2027.

“Curated by the Vivienne Westwood team, this spectacular new exhibition can be seen by audiences in the UK for the first time at V&A Dundee, Scotland's design museum, from March next year.

“The exhibition celebrates the British design house - exploring four decades of jewellery collections, paired with garments, imagery and video, offering a unique perspective into the Vivienne Westwood world.”

She added that Dame Vivienne Westwood had a strong connection with Dundee, having received an honorary doctorate from the University of Dundee in 2008 and spending time with art and design students during her visit.

“Opening Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery in Dundee is deeply significant, celebrating an extraordinary creative legacy and marking an important connection with the city,” she said.

The exhibition has been created by Vivienne Westwood Ltd and produced by Nomad Exhibitions.

Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery opens at V&A Dundee on 26 March 2027.
