New details revealed for Superdrug’s Overgate expansion as work gets underway

Shoppers are set to benefit from a major upgrade at Overgate as fresh details have been revealed about Superdrug’s expansion in Dundee.

The new “best-in-class” store is scheduled to open in October 2025 and will increase its footprint by more than 35%, from 7,125 sq. ft to 9,739 sq. ft.

Superdrug will move into the unit formerly occupied by Clintons, which has since relocated within the centre.

Once complete, the expansion will give the retailer a larger ground-floor presence on a prominent corner site, creating one of the mall’s most eye-catching stores.

The plans confirm a wide range of new additions for customers. Beauty Studios will offer popular treatments including ear piercing, manicures and eyebrow threading, while luxury fragrance counters will provide tailored advice from trained consultants.

A new private nurse clinic and enhanced pharmacy will also bring personalised healthcare directly into the store.

The introduction of new Beauty Studios, each offering a range of popular and affordable beauty treatments, is an exciting development, and the enhancement of Superdrug’s pharmacy with a new face-to-face private nurse clinic will bring a welcome personalised healthcare service.

“This commitment by Superdrug is a resounding vote of confidence in Overgate, and the future of bricks-and-mortar retail in Dundee city centre. There is no doubt this new store will prove highly popular with our customers when it opens in October.”

The expansion is part of Superdrug’s nationwide investment programme in 2025, which will see 65 stores modernised, refurbished and extended.

Sustainability will also be at the heart of the Dundee development through the company’s Planet, People and Products scheme.

The news follows the opening of FRASERS at Overgate in June 2025, adding to the centre’s growing line-up of flagship retail experiences.
