Something truly powerful and moving has just happened in Dundee.
Two suicide prevention benches - the first of their kind in Scotland - have been installed in the city, thanks to a beautiful partnership between the charity Legend on the Bench and a generous anonymous local donor.
These benches offer more than just a place to sit - they offer hope, support, and a quiet moment to feel seen.
Each bench has a plaque with helpline numbers and a QR code linking to support services. For anyone feeling overwhelmed or alone, these benches serve as a gentle reminder that someone is always listening.
Legend on the Bench was set up by the family of Jay, nephew of footballer Micky Hazard, after Jay sadly died by suicide in 2019. Since then, they’ve placed benches across England - and now, Dundee joins that mission to bring hope.
You can find them at Slessor Gardens, next to the Ember bus stop, and on Tannadice Street, beside Hindmarsh Avenue. These benches could save lives - and they show just how much compassion exists in our city.
