Scotland’s sunniest city is set to sizzle this weekend, with temperatures expected to hit 27°C on Friday (20 June) and 25°C on Saturday in Dundee — making it one of the hottest spells of the year so far.

If you’re looking to soak up the sun, cool down in style or just make the most of the city while the weather’s on your side, Dundee Culture has got you covered.

Here are 8 hot weather things to do in Dundee this weekend:

Treat yourself to ice cream at Janettas or Casa di Gelato

Cool off with a scoop (or three) of Dundee’s finest gelato. Head to Janettas Gelateria kiosk at Slessor Gardens for a refreshing break in the heart of the Waterfront, or pop along to Casa di Gelato on the Nethergate for Insta-worthy cones and endless flavour options.

Kick back at Waterfront Place and the urban beach

It’s the perfect time to enjoy Dundee’s own slice of seaside. Grab a spot at Waterfront Place, dip your toes in the urban beach, and enjoy the sweeping views over the Tay. Great for relaxing, reading, or catching up with friends in the sunshine.

Hop on a SaltDog Marine boat tour

Why not take to the water? SaltDog Marine’s boat tours let you feel the breeze and spot dolphins, seabirds and more — all while enjoying a unique view of the Dundee and Fife coastline. Perfect for adventurers looking to beat the heat.

Better hurry though - tickets are almost sold out over the three days! Buy them now!

Spend the afternoon at Broughty Ferry Beach or attend the Fisherman’s Beer Festival

Just a short hop from the city centre, Broughty Ferry Beach is ideal for a full-on beach day. Pack a picnic, build a sandcastle, paddle in the Tay, or just lie back and sunbathe while the tide rolls in.

Or why not visit the Fisherman’s Beer Festival which runs from tomorrow up to Sunday at the Fisherman’s Tavern!

Soak in the sun at Slessor Gardens

If you’re staying central, head to Slessor Gardens — Dundee’s green oasis. Bring a blanket, some tunes and your SPF, and soak up the sunshine while surrounded by art, nature, and buzzing city life.

Ride the Discover Dundee open-top tour bus

Feel the wind in your hair and take in the city in style aboard the Discover Dundee open-top tour bus. It’s a great way to enjoy the warm weather while learning about Dundee’s landmarks — and yes, it even stops at Dundee Law for one of the best views in the city.

Enjoy al fresco food and drink

Make the most of the weather with a seat in the sun. Dundee’s full of outdoor dining options — from the Jute Cafe Bar, Groucho’s to Gidi Grill, there’s something for everyone!

Explore Camperdown Park and Wildlife Centre

Looking for a more chilled, nature-filled day out? Head to Camperdown Park, Dundee’s largest green space, where you can enjoy shaded woodland walks or meet animals at the Camperdown Wildlife Centre — a great shout if you’re with family or need a break from the direct sun.

Whatever you do — stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and enjoy the sun while it lasts! Dundee’s never looked better than under a blue sky.
