Global cybersecurity giant N-able chooses Dundee for new high-tech hub

A global cybersecurity company has officially opened a new Collaboration Hub and dedicated Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Dundee, creating a further boost for the city’s growing technology sector.

N-able has launched the new facility at James Thomson House on Dundee’s waterfront, strengthening its global cybersecurity operations while expanding its presence in Scotland. The company says the investment will help it detect, investigate and respond to cyber threats around the clock for customers across the world.

The Dundee hub is already home to around 150 employees working across finance, software development, sales, technical support and product management. The company also expects further growth as its new Security Operations Centre expands.

The dedicated SOC will play a key role in monitoring customer systems, investigating suspicious activity and coordinating rapid responses to cyber incidents. It will also support the continued development of N-able’s Adlumin cybersecurity platform and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services.

The opening builds on the company’s continued growth in Scotland. Since 2021, N-able says it has increased its UK workforce by almost 50%, while continuing to invest in local talent, innovation and cybersecurity operations.

The new Dundee base follows the company’s move to a larger office in Edinburgh last year and builds on more than 20 years of operations in Scotland.

The company said Dundee’s strong technology talent pipeline was a key factor in the investment, highlighting graduates from Abertay University, the University of Dundee and Dundee & Angus College. N-able is also working with local education providers and industry organisations to help develop future cybersecurity skills and retain talent within the region.

Dundee City Council Leader Councillor Mark Flynn welcomed the investment, saying: “James Thomson House is a flagship development on Dundee’s waterfront, designed to sustain and attract high-quality jobs in the city.

“We are pleased to welcome N-able to the building. With James Thomson House now fully occupied, N-able’s investment highlights the strong demand for Grade A office space in Dundee and reinforces the strength of our growing technology sector and local economy.”

The investment forms part of N-able’s long-term strategy to expand its global security operations while supporting business resilience for customers worldwide.
