FIRST LOOK: Frasers opens its doors in Dundee

Frasers have opened their doors in Dundee this morning. The new department store takes over from the former Debenhams after being left vacant for a number of years.

The new store opened its doors this morning after a minor delay earlier, this was following a full transformation of the long-vacant building.

The department store, operated by Frasers Group, offers a multi-level shopping experience that blends premium fashion, beauty, and sportswear under one roof.

From the moment shoppers step inside the newly renovated space, it's clear the store is designed to make a statement in both scale and style.

On the ground floor, visitors are greeted by a striking beauty hall, which features high-end counters for brands such as Charlotte Tilbury, Dior, Guerlain, Trinny London, and Estée Lauder.

The space also features specific areas for handbags, womenswear, menswear, footwear, and lingerie, each thoughtfully curated to highlight designer appeal and contemporary trends.

Fashion is a clear focus throughout the store, with standout areas showcasing brands like Ralph Lauren Polo, Biba, French Connection, Barbour, Levi’s, Tommy Hilfiger, Boss, and Paul Smith. With a strong balance of classic names and contemporary labels, the store caters to a wide range of tastes and ages.

Head upstairs and the first floor transitions into an activewear and casualwear zone, with a large Sports Direct and USC combination layout. It’s here that streetwear meets function, with plenty of choice for those after sports brands or everyday fashion staples.

The top floor continues the sporting theme, offering expansive departments dedicated to football and running gear. There’s also a GAME store and a toy section, including a dedicated LEGO range that adds a family-friendly touch to the mix.

The arrival of Frasers has been keenly anticipated since the announcement that the Debenhams site — closed since 2021 — would be brought back into use. Its opening marks the first major retail addition to the High Street in several years, and is seen as a significant boost for the city centre.

Early visitors this morning praised the quality of the fit-out and the variety of brands on offer, noting that the building has been given a new lease of life. With modern design elements, open-plan floors, and a broad mix of products, the store offers a shopping experience that brings something fresh to Dundee.

As city centre regeneration efforts continue, the launch of Frasers signals renewed confidence in Dundee’s potential as a retail destination. With multiple departments, premium brands, and something for all ages, the new store looks set to become a key anchor in the city's high street offering.
