First look at exciting new play area designs for Camperdown Park
Exciting new designs have been revealed showing how play areas at Camperdown Park could be transformed.
The draft proposals have been shaped following a year of conversations with local people, schools, community groups and those who regularly use the park – with a particular focus on creating more exciting, accessible and inclusive places to play.
Ideas around inclusive play, nature, accessibility, exciting new equipment and unique features have all influenced the designs now being put forward.
And they could mark a major improvement to the play experience at one of Dundee’s best-loved parks.
New ideas for play at Camperdown
Camperdown has been a favourite destination for generations of Dundee families, and the new proposals look at how its play facilities could be improved for another generation.
Rather than simply replacing existing equipment, feedback gathered over the past year has explored what could make play at Camperdown more exciting and distinctive.
Accessibility and inclusive play have been important parts of that conversation, alongside ideas for equipment and features which make the most of Camperdown’s natural surroundings.
Those ideas have now been brought together into draft designs, giving people their first opportunity to see what the future of play at Camperdown could look like.
Designs shaped by Dundee families
Importantly, the proposals haven’t been developed in isolation.
Local schools, community groups, residents and park users have all contributed ideas over the past year, helping identify what people want from the next generation of play facilities.
That feedback has directly influenced the draft designs now being presented.
And before anything is finalised, Dundee City Council wants to know what people think of them.

A public consultation is now open, allowing people to view the proposed designs and give feedback on what they like, what could be improved and what they would like to see at Camperdown.
The survey also asks a series of separate questions about Camperdown Park more widely.
These look at how people currently use the park, how they might want to use it in the future and what improvements could make Camperdown easier to access, navigate and enjoy.
Feedback from this part of the consultation will help inform future planning and investment across the wider park.
