A brand-new indoor entertainment venue featuring crazy golf, arcade games, social darts and a cocktail and sports bar is set to open in Dundee city centre, Dundee Culture can exclusively reveal.
Safari & Co will transform the former Top Dog unit into the city’s first dedicated indoor crazy golf destination, bringing together an 18-hole safari-themed course, interactive crazy golf and a range of social entertainment under one roof.
The new venue has been years in the making, with the team behind Safari & Co searching extensively for the right location before securing the city centre premises.
Speaking to Dundee Culture, Scott Townshend, who also operates Dundee city centre venues The Paddock and Groucho’s alongside business partner Liam Bruce, said: “I have been looking for a suitable venue to do an indoor crazy golf in Dundee for quite a few years. I have struggled to find the correct location until now.
“I feel this city centre unit is ideal for this type of amusement and the city is crying out for such a venue. Families, students and groups of friends will all find something to enjoy at Safari & Co.”
Visitors can expect far more than just crazy golf. Alongside the flagship 18-hole safari-themed course, the venue will also feature interactive crazy golf, social darts, an arcade packed with amusements and a cocktail and sports bar, creating a destination designed for both daytime visitors and evening entertainment.
The first phase of Safari & Co is expected to open within the next four to six weeks, with the interactive crazy golf launching first while construction continues on the main 18-hole safari-themed course.
Much of the renovation work will be carried out by Liam Bruce, an experienced joiner and Scott’s business partner, as the former Top Dog premises are transformed into Dundee’s newest leisure attraction.
The owners believe Safari & Co will become a major addition to Dundee’s growing hospitality and entertainment scene, offering something new in the heart of the city.
Reflecting on the journey to bring the project to life, Scott added: “Trying to find the correct venue for this hasn’t been easy, but now I feel we are in a strong position to deliver a huge addition to Dundee’s ever-evolving hospitality and entertainment industry.”
An official opening date is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
