Dundonians are reminiscing over Dundee’s old iconic red City of Discovery logo

Dundonians have been sharing memories of a familiar sight from the early 2000s - the red Dundee: City of Discovery logo that once stood proudly across the city after it was posted on Dundee Culture.

Many recall seeing the branding on the old train station and on buildings such as the Olympia, where it became part of everyday life for commuters, families and visitors alike.

Many recalled having pens and pencils with the logo on it as well as stickers and keyrings and there was also a truck driver that had it displayed over his truck which was driven all over the UK.

Introduced during a period of major regeneration, the logo symbolised Dundee’s ambition and growing confidence as a modern city with a rich past and forward-looking identity.

Social media has been filled with nostalgia, with residents describing the 2000s as a memorable time for the city. For some, the logo represents a period of optimism, change and cultural growth.

While Dundee has since refreshed its branding, the affection for the original City of Discovery logo shows how deeply it resonated with those who lived through that era.
