Dundee welcomed 1.4 million visitors in 2024, the highest number in over a decade. The figure marks a 61% increase since 2017, reflecting the city’s growing reputation as a must-visit destination.
The statistics were drawn from STEAM (Scottish Tourism Economic Activity Monitor) data, which measures tourism through hotel occupancy, attraction admissions, and visitor spending.
The rise highlights the city’s continuing success in attracting both day-trippers and overnight stays.
V&A Dundee also included the figures in its annual report, underlining the museum’s role in Dundee’s growth.

Since opening in 2018, the attraction has become a major driver of tourism, bringing international attention to the city.
With Dundee’s waterfront regeneration, cultural landmarks, and a busy events calendar, local leaders believe the city’s upward tourism trend is set to continue.
