The planning application for the significant and much-anticipated expansion of Dundee's Lochee Boys and Girls Boxing Club has received official approval from Dundee City Council.

This decision marks a pivotal moment for the club, as it will now facilitate essential internal upgrades alongside a new extension to the existing building located on Loons Road.

This expansion is not merely an enhancement of physical space; it represents a commitment to the future of boxing and youth engagement within the community.

The development is set to address the pressing capacity issues that the club has been facing for some time. With the growing interest in boxing and the increasing number of young people eager to participate, the current facilities have become inadequate to meet the demand.

The expansion will provide a more spacious environment for training, allowing for more participants to engage in boxing and related activities.

Additionally, this upgrade will open up new avenues for youth engagement, enabling the club to run more programs aimed at skill development, fitness, and personal growth.

Designs created by the esteemed LJRH Architects illustrate a vision for the revamped interior, showcasing how the new space will look and function.

The proposed layout emphasizes a modern and flexible design, which will not only enhance the training experience for boxers but also accommodate various activities and events.

This thoughtful approach to design ensures that the facility will be adaptable to the needs of its users, fostering an environment that promotes both athletic performance and community interaction.

While boxing remains the core focus of the Lochee Boys and Girls Boxing Club, the leadership is also keen on broadening its reach beyond the sport itself.

This expansion is seen as an opportunity to create a more inclusive environment that welcomes individuals from all backgrounds and interests. By diversifying the programs and activities offered, the club aims to attract a wider audience, thereby enriching the local community.

The newly constructed extension will feature a multi-use area designed specifically for local schools, sports teams, and community organisations.

This versatile space will allow the facility to function as a comprehensive community hub, hosting a variety of events and activities that cater to different interests and age groups.
