Scotland’s most prestigious music honour, the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award, is set to make its Dundee debut in 2025, marking a major cultural milestone for the city.
Organisers have announced that the award ceremony will be held at Dundee’s historic Caird Hall for the next three years, beginning with this year’s event on 6 November 2025.
The move sees the SAY Award — delivered by the Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA) — celebrate Scotland’s vibrant music scene in a new setting, with the shift to Dundee recognising the city’s growing reputation as a creative and cultural hub.
As part of the new partnership, The SAY Award has also launched its annual Design Commission, inviting Dundee-based artists and makers to design unique trophies for this year’s shortlisted nominees and overall winner.
The initiative not only spotlights local talent but offers a chance for Dundee’s creative community to play a key role in one of Scotland’s leading cultural celebrations.
Submissions for eligible albums open in one week, and anticipation is already building ahead of the November ceremony. The winner will take home the coveted title of Scottish Album of the Year, along with a £20,000 prize.
The move to Dundee cements the city’s role in shaping Scotland’s cultural future, with the SAY Award joining a growing list of national events making their mark in the city.
