Dundee City Council has approved plans for a new football training centre and community hub at Riverside Pitches, a project spearheaded by Dundee Football Club Community Trust (DFCCT) in collaboration with Riverside West End and Dundee FC.
The approval marks a significant step forward for community and youth football in Dundee.
The new facility will provide a dedicated training space for a wide range of youth teams across the city and include expanded programmes for girls’ and women’s football, as well as inclusive initiatives like walking football, recreational football for women, and wellness programmes. Dundee FC’s first team will also use the facility, bringing professional-level inspiration to the young players training in the same environment.
Riverside West End, which currently engages 280 young players from ages 4 to 17, will also have access to the hub, allowing even more children the opportunity to join the team.
DFCCT has secured funding through the Scottish FA’s Grassroots Pitch and Facilities Fund and the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund, with additional match funding from Dundee FC’s owners.
This collective support underscores a strong commitment to fostering local talent and enriching the Dundee community through sports.
Construction details and the start date for the new facility will be announced soon, marking the beginning of an exciting new era for Dundee football.
