Dundee fashion designer Hayley Scanlan has announced the launch of her brand new sewing school.
The new venture expands her creative footprint with an opportunity for people of all ages to learn hands-on skills.
The award-winning designer, known for flying the flag for Dundee’s fashion scene, will open the school in January 2026 with dedicated 8 week programmes for both adults and children.
The sewing school marks an exciting new chapter for Scanlan, who has built one of Scotland’s most recognisable independent fashion brands.
Her label, based in Dundee, has gained widespread attention for its bold designs, unique cuts and modern take on street style.
Beyond her collections, Hayley has become a champion for nurturing creativity in the city, regularly engaging with young designers and community groups to share her passion for fashion and design.
Classes will run in small groups to ensure each student receives tailored guidance, with the aim of helping budding makers grow their confidence while developing real technical skills.
Adults will be given the chance to explore pattern cutting, garment construction and machine sewing, while the kids’ sessions are designed to introduce sewing in a fun, encouraging and stress-free way.
All courses are now live and open for booking online, with places expected to fill quickly.
Hayley said her motivation for launching the school comes from wanting to make creativity more accessible.
After years of seeing the impact of hands-on learning in her studio and workshops, she hopes the new sewing school will become a welcoming space where people can slow down, create and discover a new passion.
