Dundee Culture has reached another remarkable milestone, recording 100 million visits across its digital platforms in 2026 as of November, as the independent local news and culture platform continues to grow its audience in Dundee and beyond!

Founded in 2013 by Andrew Batchelor, who was just 12 years old at the time, Dundee Culture has grown from a small passion project into one of the city’s most recognisable independent digital platforms, sharing local news, events, history, heritage and the stories of people making a difference across Dundee.

The latest milestone marks another significant achievement for the platform, which has spent more than 13 years showcasing Dundee to audiences around the world.

100 million visits and counting

The achievement comes after several years of substantial audience growth, with Dundee Culture continuing to attract millions of visits through its social media channels and online content.

In 2024, the platform recorded approximately 45 million visits, demonstrating the scale of its growing reach and the increasing appetite for stories celebrating Dundee.

Now, with 100 million visits recorded during 2026 alone, Dundee Culture has reached another major landmark, with almost two months of the year still remaining.

The figures reflect the combined reach of the platform’s digital content, including its coverage of breaking local news, cultural events, community achievements, historic landmarks and major developments affecting Dundee.

From a 12-year-old’s idea to a major local platform

Dundee Culture began in 2013 with a simple ambition: to celebrate Dundee and share the city’s stories with a wider audience.

What started as a personal interest in Dundee’s history and culture has gradually developed into a digital publication covering everything from major city announcements to the achievements of local people, businesses and organisations.

Over the years, the platform has also worked alongside some of Dundee’s best-known cultural institutions, helping promote exhibitions, festivals, community initiatives and heritage attractions.

Its coverage has included major campaigns celebrating the city’s cultural heritage, including the successful efforts to secure the future of Mills Observatory, which subsequently recorded its highest visitor numbers in recent years.

Despite its growth, Dundee Culture has remained independently run, with a continued focus on accessible local journalism, community storytelling and promoting the city to the widest possible audience.

Celebrating the people and stories behind Dundee

A significant part of Dundee Culture’s success has been its focus on the people, places and organisations that make the city unique.

From highlighting independent businesses and community projects to sharing the stories of local artists, musicians, scientists and entrepreneurs, the platform has continued to champion achievements that might otherwise receive limited attention.

Its coverage also extends to Dundee’s internationally recognised contributions to video games, design, science and cultural heritage, helping connect local stories with audiences far beyond Scotland.

Alongside its social media presence, Dundee Culture’s website has become an important part of its editorial work, publishing news articles, interviews, features and guides to events taking place across the city.

Looking ahead to the future

Reaching 100 million visits in 2026 represents another exciting chapter for Dundee Culture, but the platform’s original purpose remains unchanged.

With more stories to tell, events to celebrate and people to recognise, Dundee Culture will continue building on its commitment to independent local coverage while exploring new opportunities to support Dundee’s creative and cultural communities.

The milestone is also a reflection of the continued support from readers, followers, businesses and organisations who have helped the platform grow over the past 13 years.

From a small project launched by a 12-year-old Dundonian to reaching 100 million visits in a single year, Dundee Culture’s journey is a reminder of just how far a passion for celebrating a city can go.

And with the platform continuing to grow, there are plenty more Dundee stories still to be told..
