Dundee and Angus College have announced plans to move to the Wellgate in £250m takeover

Dundee and Angus College have announced plans to takeover the Wellgate in a £250m move which would see the closure of the Kingsway campus alongside expansions at Gardyne and Arbroath, the Courier exclusively reported.

The story, reported on by Laura Devlin, revealed that the planned takeover would see the Wellgate transformed into a new college campus in the heart of the city, with the return of the thoroughfare next to it.

The proposal is part of a ten year plan from the college as it continues to break new ground, with it recently being named as Scotland’s first College of Sancutary, and being the first college in Scotland to launch an esports course and a purpose-built “Esports Studios”.

The proposals, if approved, would see the Kingsway campus, which opened in the 1960s close with the operations being moved to the new Wellgate campus.

There is also planned expansions at the college’s Gardyne campus in Broughty Ferry, and at the Abbeygate centre in Arbroath.
