Consultation launched on £1.5m investment plans for Camperdown Park

People across Dundee are being invited to help shape the future of Camperdown Park as consultation begins on plans for a major £1.5m investment in the popular green space.

Dundee City Council has launched the first phase of consultation on proposals that could transform key visitor areas of the park through funding from the UK Government’s Pride in Place Fund.

The investment is expected to focus on revitalising the park through Dundee-inspired themes including maritime heritage, industry, and woodland storytelling linked to Frankenstein author Mary Shelley.

Potential improvements being discussed include the renewal of Camperdown’s main play areas, featuring a new landmark attraction and inclusive equipment suitable for all abilities.

Plans could also see upgraded entrances, new signage and wayfinding, alongside infrastructure improvements aimed at supporting future community events and long-term sustainability.

Council leader Mark Flynn said a comprehensive programme of engagement would take place throughout much of the year to gather views from as many people as possible.

He said the final improvements would help boost inclusive access, improve health and wellbeing, and strengthen biodiversity and climate resilience across the park.

The consultation process will take place in three stages, beginning with an online questionnaire which is now open throughout May.

Additional face-to-face engagement sessions are expected to take place over the summer.

The £1.5m funding award forms part of the UK Government’s Pride in Place Fund, which aims to support long-term, locally led improvements to public and community spaces.

Once consultation and final designs have been completed, councillors are expected to consider a tender report in early 2027. Work at Camperdown Park is then expected to be completed later that year.

The consultation questionnaire opened on May 11 and will remain available until the end of the month through Dundee City Council’s website.
