Broughty Castle to host two-day weekend market before closing for winter

Broughty Castle is preparing for a fantastic weekend of shopping, food and family fun as the historic attraction gets ready to close for the winter!
The much-loved Broughty Ferry landmark will host a special two-day market on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, bringing together stalls, food and activities for visitors to enjoy.
The event is being described as a big summer send-off, giving locals and visitors another reason to explore one of Dundee’s most recognisable historic attractions before its seasonal closure.
And with the castle overlooking the River Tay, it promises to be a lovely setting for a weekend market!
A special weekend at Broughty Castle
The two-day event, organised by the Yard Market, will take place across the weekend of 17 and 18 October, with a variety of stalls, food and entertainment planned.
Organisers are encouraging people to come along and enjoy the atmosphere as Broughty Castle celebrates the end of its visitor season.
The market also provides an opportunity for families and visitors to spend time at the historic attraction before it closes for the winter.
Situated at the mouth of the River Tay, Broughty Castle has stood overlooking the waterfront for centuries and remains one of Broughty Ferry’s best-known landmarks.
The castle is home to displays exploring local history, wildlife and the arts, while its location offers some fantastic views across the Tay.
Last chance to explore before winter closure
The market comes just a week before Broughty Castle closes for the winter on Sunday 25 October.
Visitors hoping to explore the castle before its seasonal closure still have time to enjoy its exhibitions and discover more about the history of Broughty Ferry.
Admission to the castle is completely free.
Normal opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm, and Sunday from 12.30pm until 4pm.
The castle’s final weekend market offers an additional reason to visit before the doors close for the season.
The Broughty Castle weekend market takes place on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October 2026. Further details about individual stalls and the market’s opening times have yet to be confirmed in the announcement.
With shopping, food and the chance to explore one of Dundee’s historic landmarks, it’s shaping up to be a lovely way to round off the season in Broughty Ferry.
