Brian Cox and Radek Rudnicki are set to receive honorary degrees from Abertay University

Dundee-born Hollywood actor Brian Cox and sound artist Radek Rudnicki are set to receive honorary degrees from Abertay University at this summer’s graduation ceremony in Dundee.
Cox, who began his career at Dundee Repertory Theatre in 1961, will be recognised for his outstanding contribution to the performing arts.
With more than 60 years of experience on stage and screen, his career highlights include roles in Braveheart, The Bourne Identity, and Succession, where he played media mogul Logan Roy. He is also well known locally for playing Bob Servant.
Radek Rudnicki will be honoured for his work in new media and spatial sound. As a composer and sound designer, his projects explore immersive audio and digital storytelling.
He has worked with global organisations such as NASA and the Stockholm Environment Institute, and collaborates with leading music technology companies. Rudnicki also heads Wave Folder Records and is a lead designer at the Precyzja Foundation.
The ceremony will take place on Friday 11 July at Caird Hall, where more than 400 students will graduate from Abertay’s three faculties – Design and Informatics and Business, Social and Applied Sciences, and the Graduate School. The event will be attended by students, staff, families, and special guests.
Cox is expected to return to the Dundee Rep stage later this year for a new production titled Make It Happen, strengthening his ties to his hometown. Meanwhile, Rudnicki continues to push boundaries in audio technology, with his latest work being shown at exhibitions around the world.
The honorary degrees highlight Abertay’s commitment to recognising creativity and excellence in a range of fields, as the University prepares to mark a day of pride and celebration for graduates and their families.
