A new report being presented to councillors this week has revealed how millions of pounds of investment from the Tay Cities Region Deal are transforming Dundee.

The £700 million programme, launched in 2020, is now halfway through its 10-year journey and has already made a big impact across the city.

So far, £155m of government funding has been invested, unlocking a further £180m from external sources and supporting 2,451 jobs.

Dundee projects highlighted in the report include Abertay University’s CyberQuarter, which received £11.7m to establish a cutting-edge cybersecurity hub, £2.5m towards the transformation of Discovery Point, £2m for 5G digital test beds, and £1.45m in support for Dundee Airport.

These investments, along with the University of Dundee’s growing biomedical cluster, underline the city’s role as a centre for science, culture and innovation.

The Deal is about more than just money – it is about reshaping the city’s future. With projects spanning research, tourism, digital infrastructure and transport, Dundee is positioning itself as a hub for creativity and opportunity on a global stage.

Councillors will also look ahead at how the Deal can be reshaped to ensure continued success through to 2030, securing long-term benefits for Dundee and the wider Tay Cities region.

From world-class research to cultural attractions, the report shows how Dundee’s transformation is gathering pace, building a city ready for the future.
