A new pop-up exhibition and shop is coming to Dundee’s city centre this month, offering a bold tribute to the working-class identity and community spirit of Lochee.
Titled “Pure Class, Pure Chaos”, the event runs from 25–27 July at 90 Commercial Street and is being brought to life by two local forces – Gadgie and Bandwagon Brand, a textile designer known for weaving local culture into streetwear.
The exhibition will showcase designs, stories and creative work rooted in Lochee’s history and humour, with contributions from other local creatives.
The project shines a light on the people and place that shape Lochee.
“Lochee is tight knit, filled with characters, full of history and funny stories,” say the organisers. “We’ve come up with an original motif – make mulit’s cool again – and hope that through this collaboration, Lochee is proud of us too.”
The weekend kicks off with an opening party on Friday 25 July from 6pm to 9pm, featuring music from local DJ Kerr Darling.
The exhibition will then be open from 11am to 4pm on both Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July. The event is BYOB and welcomes all who want to experience the grit, humour and creativity of one of Dundee’s most distinctive communities.
The striking artwork and branding for the event, featuring high-rise imagery and fluorescent accents, reflects the raw energy at the heart of the project. The space promises to be more than just a display – it’s a celebration of place, pride and people.
With strong local roots and a desire to represent their side of town authentically, the creators of “Pure Class, Pure Chaos” are inviting Dundee to see Lochee through their eyes – full of class, full of chaos, and full of character.
