Dundee’s indie video games festival ProtoPlay is back – and this year, it’s levelling up with a brand new venue.
Taking place on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 September, the festival will be hosted for the first time at LIVEHOUSE Dundee.
Free and family-friendly, ProtoPlay is a celebration of the UK’s emerging games talent, offering visitors the chance to play original indie games before they hit the market.
Whether you’re a casual player, a dedicated gamer, or just curious about the world of game development, there’s something for everyone.

The festival will showcase innovative games created by graduate teams from across the UK as part of the Tranzfuser programme.
Attendees can meet the developers, learn about the creative process, and get hands-on with fresh ideas and bold new gaming experiences.
Beyond gameplay, there’ll be interactive activities, industry networking opportunities, and even exclusive cinema screenings - making it more than just a games expo. It’s a full-on celebration of creativity, technology and community.
Dundee’s reputation as a hub for game design and digital creativity makes it the perfect home for ProtoPlay. With free entry, a welcoming atmosphere, and plenty to explore, it’s an unmissable event for all ages
