There was a gesture of kindness in Broughty Ferry this week as The Ship Inn offered immediate opportunities to staff who recently lost their jobs at The Anchor.
The Anchor, located on Gray Street, has been closed for several weeks and is currently boarded up while its future remains uncertain.
With the delay in reopening, its team of workers have now found themselves without roles.
In a post on social media, The Ship Inn addressed Anchor staff directly, writing:
“Sorry to hear you have all been paid off. We are currently recruiting for all roles… We will get you in for an immediate interview. Thank you.”
The post has been met with supportive reactions from locals, who praised the venue for stepping in to help.
The Ship Inn confirmed that positions are available across a variety of roles, and anyone interested can apply by email or direct message.
It’s a move that highlights the strong sense of community spirit in Broughty Ferry’s hospitality scene - and offers a glimmer of hope for workers affected by the sudden closure of one of the area’s most recognisable pubs.
