Next are proposing £2.2 million of work on new store at Dundee's Stack Retail Park

High street retailer Next has announced proposals to carry out £2.2 million of work on a new store in Dundee, the Courier has reported.

Next is planning to establish a new store at The Stack Retail Park in Lochee. The company submitted planning applications in May to refurbish the former Home Bargains unit, with approval granted by Dundee City Council in July.

Recently, Next has sought a building warrant to begin £2.2 million worth of interior renovations as part of their preparations for the store's opening.

Details about the new store, including its opening date, remain under wraps. The unit, located next to Aldi, has been unoccupied since Home Bargains moved to a larger location at the former Odeon cinema site last December.

This upcoming store will be Next's fourth location in Dundee, adding to its existing outlets at the Overgate, Gallagher Retail Park, and Kingsway West Retail Park.

There is no official word yet on whether Next plans to close any of its current stores in favour of consolidating its operations at The Stack Retail Park.
